House of Fraser loses marketing director

House of Fraser marketing director Meg Gilmore has left the retailer. It is not known if Gilmore, who had been at the department store chain since joining from Harrods in 1993, has another position to go to.

It is believed she left ahead of a review of the group’s £3m advertising account currently held by Hooper Galton.

Her departure follows a number of changes at the retailer’s marketing department. In February it was revealed that up to a quarter of its team were at risk of redundancy as part of a cut of 150 back-office staff.

Chief executive John King was brought in last year after Icelandic investment group Baugur bought House of Fraser for £351m.

King unveiled plans in February to make the group the UK equivalent of upscale US department store group Nordstrom. The retailer operates 61 stores throughout the UK and launched its own-label womenswear brand Untold as part of its push to go upmarket.
