HSBC marketing chief exits

HSBC group marketing chief Tracy Britton has left the bank to return to the US.

Head of customer experience Chris Clark will replace Britton on an interim basis.

Britton replaced Clark as group head of marketing in March 2009. She had previously overseen the banking group’s North American marketing.

It is not known whether she has a job to go. A spokesman for the HSBC confirmed that Britton had left but would not say if the bank was seeking a replacement.

Britton oversaw the launch of HSBC Advance earlier this year.

The paid for account targets an estimated 154 million customers worldwide the bank describes as the “emerging mass affluent”.

Last week, HSBC announced pre-tax profit more than doubled in the first half of the year to £7bn.

The bank has drawn criticism from small businesses, which have accused the banking sector of not backing growth.

Stephen Green, the chairman of HSBC and the British Bankers’ Association, has setup a taskforce that will examine if anything can be done to make sure funds are available to businesses.
