Hulu to launch global subscription service

US TV-on-demand service Hulu is to launch a global subscription service following the release of a US equivalent, Hulu Plus, last week, according to The Financial Times.

Hulu Plus is an ad-supported subscription service featuring shows like The Office: An American Workplace, Family Guy, 30 Rock, Glee and Greg’s Anatomy.

The US ad-supported VOD platform, owned by News Corp, NBC Universal and The Walt Disney Company, had been working on an international launch for some time, but announced it had axed plans to launch in the UK after talks with the major British broadcasters collapsed.
