Iceland poaches Sun marketer

The Sun and News of the World’s marketing director Nick Canning is to take up the role of marketing director at troubled supermarket Iceland, in place of Sara Jamison.

It is expected that Canning will review Iceland’s &£14.4m advertising account, which is held by HHCL & Partners. The supermarket abandoned a review of the business in April and reaffirmed its commitment to HHCL, which has worked on the account since 1998 (MW April 18).

It is not known whether Jamison, who was made marketing director in 2000 and has worked at Iceland in a variety of roles for more than 15 years, has a job to go to. She will leave in the New Year.
