IMG picks two for licensing task

IMG, the global sports, entertainment and media company, has appointed two new executive vice-presidents and co-managing directors to head its Worldwide Licensing & Consumer Products business.

Tim Rothwell and Bruno Maglione, who have worked as a team for the past eight years most recently at Marvel Entertainment, will report directly to George Pyne, president of IMG Sports & Entertainment. Rothwell will work out of the company’s Los Angeles-based offices while Maglione will be installed in London.

The pair will be responsible for leveraging IMG’s existing relationships and properties to launch new licensing programmes across its entertainment, media, fashion and sports businesses worldwide.

During their tenure at Marvel, Rothwell served as president of worldwide consumer products media alongside Maglione, who was president of Marvel International. Together they headed the licensing strategy for major franchises including Spider-Man, Fantastic Four and X-Men and helped to broker deals with companies such as Activisation, Hasbro and Microsoft.

Prior to Marvel the pair worked at Universal Studios in its Consumer products division helping to transform the business into a $1bn (£500m) retail business.

Rick Isaacson, senior vice-president of IMG licensing, who launched the division 18 years ago, will continue in a leadership role.
