Imperial Cancer seeks agency for sun lotions

The Imperial Cancer Research Fund is understood to be looking for an agency to advertise its range of sun protection products, called SunSafe.

The charity is thought to be boosting its advertising budget considerably for the campaign, which is likely to involve poster and press work. At the moment its advertising is handled by The Idea Works.

The Imperial Cancer range consists of six products, including sun-screen creams and sun blocks for adults and children. It is sold in Boots and the charity’s own shops.

The deal with Boots ends at the end of the year when the charity will be able to seek further distribution.

The range was launched at the start of the year, following the success of the Australian Cancer Society with a similar range of products. The separate Cancer Research Campaign has also launched a sun lotion.

Imperial Cancer’s retail finance director, Nick Cowls, says the charity is happy with its present agency but is talking to others.

SunSafe received a boost recently when the British Olympic Committee’s director of medical services, Dr Richard Budgett, recommended that athletes at the Atlanta Olympics use the range.
