Inchcape picks BLM for media business

Car dealership giant Inchcape UK has appointed BLM Media to handle its planning and buying. It is not clear whether the appointment followed a full-blown pitch.

It is, however, understood that the move will not affect current planning and buying arrangements between Inchcape subsidiary internet car retailer Autobytel and Zed Media.

Earlier this year, Autobytel moved its media planning and buying out of MediaVest Manchester and into Zed Media. It won the business following a pitch that included the incumbent and MediaCom.

Though the online retailer, which launched in 1999, declined to comment on its plans following the review, it was expected to boost its media budget to as much as &£3m.

Autobytel’s advertising is handled in house, but the company has also used Grey London for its creative work in the past.

Inchcape recently appointed full-service agency Frank the Agency to its advertising business (MW April 28).

Inchcape is a complete automotive solutions provider with a range of integrated businesses serving motorists and corporate customers. Its services span contract hire, finance, fleet management, retailing and vehicle preparation and refurbishment.
