Saatchi & Saatchi is planning to promote Neil Hughston, managing director of its interactive division, as part of chief executive Robert Senior’s plans to restructure the agency (MW last week).

The move comes as the agency denied rumours that Senior has asked some agency employees to reapply for their jobs. It follows the likely closure of Gum, the agency’s content division arm, as part of Senior’s strategy to turn around the struggling London group.

The move will mean that Saatchi & Saatchi Interactive will cease to exist as a separate business unit and Hughston will be integrated within the main agency. He joined the agency from Tribal DDB in 2005 to work alongside executive creative director Kate Stanners.

Stanners says: “We have not asked people to reapply for their jobs. The agency is aiming to achieve a simpler way of working.”

Insiders say that an “all-agency meeting” is being held later this week, where some of Senior’s plans will be announced.
