IPC Ignite! to launch ‘youth’ music title

IPC Media is planning to launch a music magazine aimed at the youth market. The launch will be handled by the IPC Ignite! division, which claims it will be a “cutting-edge music magazine”.

IPC Ignite! already publishes the music magazines NME and Muzik.

The launch will be the first at IPC Media since the completion of its acquisition by AOL Time Warner last month.

IPC is keeping details for the launch under wraps. According to a spokeswoman for IPC Media: “IPC Ignite!’s portfolio is always under review.”

The publishing director of the title will be Robert Tame. IPC Media has already started to recruit for the magazine.

Meanwhile, IPC Ignite! has announced its plans to relaunch Muzik in the first quarter of next year. The relaunch will include a new size and format for the magazine.

The January to June 2001 Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) figure for Muzik was 44,219 – an increase of 10.3 per cent year on year.
