Hearst Corporation, publisher of women’s magazine Cosmopolitan, is to collaborate on a pay-TV venture in Spain and Portugal next spring. Hearst has formed a joint venture with Spanish media company MultiPark Madrid with the aim of creating a 24-hour channel.


J Walter Thompson Detroit has won Safeway’s US TV and radio media planning and buying account. The business was previously held by Western Initiative Media Worldwide, Los Angeles, and McCann-Erickson, San Francisco.


Swatch has signed a deal with Sega to link the company’s new digital watches with the Sega Dreamcast games console.
