Waterworth (pictured) will be responsible for the growth of all ITV platforms from ITV.com to Project Canvas. He will also oversee the brand health and growth of any new platforms which offer access to ITV content and services.

Programme brand websites come under his remit and in the summer Waterworth oversaw the relaunch of the Coronation Street website.

He reports directly to group marketing director David Pemsel.

Waterworth joined ITV in 2008 as head of marketing, platforms and online and has spent the last 12 months focusing on ITV’s platform agenda, including work on Project Canvas the proposed IPTV joint venture between the BBC, ITV, BT and Five.

Pemsel says: “ITV’s ambition continues to be about aggregating audiences across any platform. Richard understands the plethora of opportunities and partnerships that exist in the new media space, and is perfectly placed to protect the brand equity of our channel portfolio in these environments.”

Waterworth adds: “Positioning ITV for success across a range of platforms is increasingly significant to the business so I’m looking forward to tackling the challenges that lie ahead.”
