ITV to review commercial structure

ITV is overhauling its commercial structure for the second time in two years following a review by the Boston Consulting Group. The changes will see ITV Customer Relations rebranded as ITV Commercial and around 25 redundancies from the 500-strong team.

The review has been overseen by managing director of commercial and brand Rupert Howell (pictured), who retains his title and role. Director of customer relations Gary Digby will also retain his role but will now become commercial sales director.

The broadcaster is creating eight agency-focused teams and a creative solutions division. In each team there will be specialists in trading, sponsorship, interactive and online sales.

The creative solutions team will be based on the existing planning team, headed by Simon Orpin, which was created when ITV Sales became ITV Customer Relations in October 2006.

The restructure is expected to be implemented in November, ready for the trading season, and following a six-week consultation with staff.
