The charity has created five online films that see Wilshere learning life saving techniques such as coping with choking, bleeding, heart attacks, unconsciousness and not breathing, from St John Ambulance first aid trainer, Clive James.

St John Ambulance says 150,000 people die each year when basic first aid could have saved their life and hopes Wilshere’s involvement will encourage people to text in to receive a free pocket-sized first aid guide.

The Learn With Jack campaign will run on Facebook and Twitter as part of St John Ambulance’s Difference campaign.

Wilshere is also gearing up to launch a merchandise range under the brand JW 19 to reflect his shirt number.
