Jackson quits Virgin for Capital

Virgin Radio chief executive Paul Jackson has quit to take the role of managing director at rival radio station Capital 95.8. He will be responsible for programming, marketing, new media and commercial strategy and report to his former boss Fru Hazlitt, who joined GCap Media, parent group of Capital Radio London, after departing Virgin in January.

Jackson took over Hazlitt’s role at Virgin Radio. His departure comes ahead of the station’s planned flotation by parent company SMG later this year.

Prior to his role as chief executive, Jackson was Virgin Radio’s programme director, after he joined the company from Capital in 2001.

Jackson’s departure from Virgin Media follows the appointment of Richard Huntingford as Virgin Radio chairman.
