Jaeger loses marketing boss to property firm

High street fashion brand Jaeger is on the hunt for a marketing director following the departure of Catherine Thomas, who is leaving to join property services group Arlington Securities.

Thomas, previously a marketer at Debenhams, joined Jaeger in 2004 with a remit to reposition the brand, broaden its appeal and update its image. Jaeger, most associated with fashion for women over 30, won plaudits for updating its image and last year relaunched its sub-brand Jaeger London, as it spearheaded its drive to target younger women.

Before Thomas, Jaeger had been without a marketing director for about a year, following the departure of Graham Sim, now head of marketing at HMV.

At Arlington she will take the position of director of UK and European marketing and communications, and she will be tasked with supporting the group’s European expansion plans.

Thomas’ appointment signals a new consumer-driven approach to brand building for a traditionally corporate business and follows Arlington’s recent merger with the Australian company Macquarie Goodman Group.

“It was important to find someone from outside of our core sectors who would bring a new perspective to our business,” says Arlington executive Jeff Pulsford.
