Jane Frost to take top post at CIM

Former BBC marketer Jane Frost has been chosen as the Chartered Institute of Marketing’s (CIM) chief executive. She will replace John Stubbs, who departs at the end of the year.

Frost, who was one of the BBC’s most high-profile marketers, quit the organisation last September. Her last job at the BBC was as director of marketing and sales for BBC Technology.

Before the arrival of director-general Greg Dyke, Frost was the BBC’s head of corporate and brand marketing. In 2000, she was moved out of the central marketing division to take an interim role as acting marketing director for BBC Technology.

In the past, Frost has been linked to the marketing director’s role at Marks & Spencer (MW October 3). She had also been mooted as a possible successor to BBC director of marketing and communications Matthew Bannister, but that slot was filled by Andy Duncan, a senior Unilever marketer.

Stubbs, who joined the CIM in July 1999, has said he will not renew his contract when its ends in December. The 61-year-old is deciding his next career move (MW June 7).

Stubbs came to the CIM from the Marketing Council, which he set up in 1995 and presided over as chief executive. Before setting up the Marketing Council, he was deputy head of marketing at Unilever.
