Kellogg raids Fox’s Biscuits for new md

Kellogg has appointed Fox’s Biscuits chief Michael Carey as its new managing director for the UK and Republic of Ireland.

Carey joins the cereal giant on February 26, and will replace David Mackay, who transferred to Kellogg’s global headquarters in the US last year. Carey will report to Kellogg Europe vice-president Tim Mobsby.

Carey has a marketing background, and previously held posts at Northern Foods, Allied Domecq and Danone, where he was marketing director of Jacob’s Biscuits and subsequently UK and Ireland managing director of Premier Waters (now Danone Waters) which includes the Volvic and Evian brands.

He returned to Northern Foods as managing director of Fox’s Biscuits two years ago and has not yet been replaced.

Kellogg UK and Ireland marketing director Guy Longworth and his team will report to Carey.

Carey says: “The UK is the second biggest market for Kellogg after the US. Consumers place a lot of trust in the brand’s potential for innovation and that’s something that can still be developed.”
