Goldman will take over as marketing director for GB and Ireland and will lead a team of 20, to oversee strategy for its meat and savoury brands Richmond, Wall’s. Mattessons and Denny. He will report to Kerry Foods’ chief marketing officer, April Redmond.
He was responsible for leading the Pepsi, Robinsons, Tango and J20 brands at Britvic. He has also worked with leading retailers including M&S, Sainsbury’s and The Co-operative Group.
Goldman will replace Winstanley, who left recently and is understood to be joining Walkers Crisps. PepsiCo, Walkers’ parent company, declined to comment on the speculation.
Redmond said:”[Russell] brings with him a wealth of marketing experience in the food and drink space and will help us build and drive our growth agenda, accelerating further the innovative work we have already begun with Richmond, Wall’s, Mattessons and Denny.”
Kerry Foods has recently launched a multimillion-pound advertising campaign with Saatchi & Saatchi for Mattessons Fridge Raiders, based on the strapline “For when you’re Hank Marvin”.
It has also relaunched Richmond Ham as a 100% natural product. However, its £3m campaign ran into trouble following 360 complaints to the Advertising Standards Authority, over “inappropriate nudity” in an ad depicting a naked farmer. There were also concerns around the claim that it was a 100% natural product.
