KFC is following up its tongue-in-check Christmas advert with a TV spot starring one of its fans singing a heartfelt tune to a friend.

The move caps off a Twitter competition the brand ran earlier his month, allowing fans to tweet about someone they would like to make peace with over the holiday season. KFC selected 27-year-old Alpa Patel’s fall-out with her friend as the best of the bunch and filmed her performing a specially written song alongside the KFC Choir.
The song is inspired by Patel’s fallout and features lines such as “I get the feeling lately our friendship has been a failure. I want to be best mates again because we’re off to Australia” and “Let’s both go down under with no anger inside us”. The ad is set to air tomorrow during the X Factor final.
It is the latest effort from the BBH created festive-themed campaign following on from the brand’s spoof of Christmas number one singles. That video has been viewed over 400,000 times on YouTube and shared thousands of times on Facebook.
Meg Farren, KFC’s UK marketing director, says: “We’re thrilled with the engagement and response we’ve had towards the campaign and are really excited to have chosen a worthy winner.”
