KFC taps click-and-collect mobile payment platform
KFC is the latest brand to implement click-and-collect mobile payment technology as it signs up with London-based Judo Payments, which allows customers to pay for orders on their device before collecting in store, in an effort to increase the satisfaction of its “loyal customers” by reducing the average time to pay.
KFC will streamline online payments through the use of Judo, which simplifies card payments “at the speed of mobile” for companies across Europe with an app that allows customers to quickly select their “usual” order, place it in their digital basket, pay, then collect their food from the store without visiting a third-party website.
The move is an effort to make the brand’s loyal customers, who already know what they want to order, more inclined return and keep spending with KFC.
Chris Matthews, applications development manager at KFC, says Judo will “reduce friction” at the point of payment, increase the number of transactions and improve customer satisfaction.
Judo claims to convert browsers to buyers on every device and to “increase sales up to six times” alongside a fraud prevention system which uses the likes of device fingerprinting and location based data to respond to security concerns.
Other users of Judo, which claims to be Europe’s only mobile-first payment platform, include coffee shop Harris + Hoole.
The move from KFC comes alongside Judo’s announcement that it will push £6m in funding to drive its expansion in the mobile commerce sector.
Dennis Jones, founder and CEO at Judo, says: “Consumers are deterred from using apps with a clunky experience, so we’re looking to make this seamless. We believe Judo is genuinely providing the opportunity to change the way we pay for goods.”
