Kidman to launch ‘Hank Evie’ celebrity clothing label

Hollywood A-lister Nicole Kidman is understood to be considering the launch of a range of clothing and accessories with her musician husband Keith Urban.

The move would see Kidman join the ranks of celebrities including Victoria Beckham, Gwen Stefani, P Diddy and Kylie Minogue in launching labels.

Urban has applied to trademark the names Hank Evie and Hank&Evie in the UK, US and Australia. The names Hank and Evie refer to the couple’s pet names for each other. The UK application includes using the name for products such as jewellery, watches, leather goods, clothing, accessories and sleep wear.

The Hank Evie name is currently used for concert T-shirts sold over the internet, but it was not known that Urban owned the label or that Hank and Evie referred to the couple. They are understood to be keen to expand the brand and increase its profile.

Oscar-winning actress Kidman has a $12m (£6m) deal to endorse Chanel No. 5 perfume, and fronts the advertising for Nintendo DS game More Brain Training.

Celebrity labels are becoming a lucrative business in the UK and US. Supermodel Kate Moss designs for Arcadia-owned Top Shop and also lends her name to an eponymous perfume. Singer Gwen Stefani’s label Lamb includes children’s clothing ranges, while P Diddy sells under his real name Sean John.
