Kit Kat looks to set pulses racing with ‘cops and robbers’ ad

Kit Kat is poking fun at British crime caper films with a humorous TV ad to launch its 2014 advertising campaign.

The JWT London-created ad opens on a police chase of alleged bank robbers as they speed through the London docklands. The robbers are cornered in a warehouse where they get out and share a Kit Kat and some humorous banter with their pursuers before racing off again.

Jon Lambert, group marketing director for Nestlé UK & Ireland, says “We wanted Kit Kat to return to screens with a humorous campaign; reminding everyone not only of the importance of a smile in a break but that Kit Kat is the chocolate bar to provide that.”

The ad is supported by online promotions throughout 2014.

Three’s marketing tactic to overcome its lack of a live 4G network last summer by advertising its “Ultrafast 3.9G network” appears to have backfired after a series of ads were banned by the ad regulator for making “misleading” claims about the service.
