Lastminute.com and specialist travel agency Real Holidays are supporting a new online travel website, takethefamily.com, targeting parents looking to go on holiday with their children.
According to Andy Cook, one of the four founders of Take the Family, which owns the site, the service came about because “we found, as parents, that there was a real gap in the market for a comprehensive, family-friendly holiday website.”
Cook, who has worked in marketing roles in the travel and hospitality industry in the US and the UK, adds that parents want to get information and book flights, accommodation, trains and car hire from one site. They also want assurances that the options they are being offered have been vetted “by real parents with real kids”.
The site offers a full range of planning and booking services for family holidays, weekend breaks and things to do in the UK and abroad. There are more than 40 handpicked destinations worldwide, with more planned, while the site features special offers from family-focused brands such as Center Parcs and Hilton International.
