LloydsTSB picks group marketing chief

LloydsTSB has appointed former Lowe Group Asia-Pacific chairman and chief executive Nigel Gilbert as group marketing director, replacing interim appointment Alan Silberstein.

Gilbert will be responsible for directing the group’s brand portfolio strategy and marketing strategy for the UK retail bank. He is due to take up the role on October 2.

Silberstein has been covering the role since Helen Stevenson left the bank in March. Her departure followed that of head of marketing Alan Gilmour. Current accounts director Gordon Rankin, a former Barclays senior marketer, also left the bank (MW 11 May).

Last week LloydsTSB recruited Accenture marketer Michael Payne to be its new marketing director for consumer banking, reporting to consumer banking managing director Paul Pester. Payne replaced Katrina Cliffe, who left to join US credit card giant American Express.

Gilbert’s career includes stints as worldwide account director at Lowe, executive vice-president of Young & Rubicam and director at Collett Dickenson Pearce.
