London Elects boosts online activity investment

London Elects has ramped up its investment in online activity in a bid to reach a disaffected electorate and promote the 2008 Mayoral and London Assembly elections to Londoners. The organisation has appointed digital agency Start Creative to design and develop its new website, launching in autumn.

The independent body responsible for publicising the elections on May 1 has also appointed design agency Sherry to produce the organisation’s booklet of Mayoral manifestos to be sent to 5.3 million voters, the London Elects monthly newsletter, all training materials and any other campaign publications.

The website and publications will be a key part of London Elects’ marketing and communications campaign, which will be the official, neutral source of information for the public and media.

The organisation plans to launch a joint advertising campaign with the Electoral Commission covering TV, press and outdoor. It has drawn up a shortlist of agencies and is looking to appoint one in September.
