Magic 105.4 brings in global manager for charity launch

Bailie joins Cash for Kids charity initiative as Bauer Radio bids to raise £7.5m. By Russell Parsons

Bauer Radio station Magic 105.4 has appointed The Body Shop’s global marketing manager Zoe Bailie to run its new children’s charity.

Bailie will be responsible for developing Magic’s charitable efforts as the London station becomes the latest in Bauer’s radio portfolio to have its own charity.

So far, 19 of the media group’s stations have launched a “Cash for Kids” charity initiative. Last year, the charities raised £5.6m and aim to raise £7.5m this year and £10m by 2010.

Bailie will co-ordinate all fundraising projects as well as the strategic direction of the charity. At The Body Shop, she was responsible for all of the retail chain’s fundraising projects and promotions.

Bauer’s flagship station retained its position as London’s top commercial radio station last month, registering a 6.9% year-on-year increase to 2.05 million listeners, according to the latest Rajar data.

The station’s breakfast show presenter Neil Fox remained the third most popular early morning DJ in London with 784,000 listeners.

Bauer is currently looking for a new chief marketing officer after Andria Vidler left to become president of EMI Music UK and Ireland.
