Magic programme director leaves for Global Radio

Richard Park, programme director at EMAP-owned Magic 105.4, is leaving the company to join Global Radio, the consortium that acquired Chrysalis Radio last week.

Park has been a consultant at Emap for five years and has spent the last two years as programme director for Magic. The station is currently number one in the competitive London market.

It is understood that Park is keen to move away from day to day programming and into a more senior role. He will join the company immediately as executive director and will have a seat on the board. Global†is led by chief executive Ashley Tabor and chairman Charles Allen, the former chief executive of ITV.

The group paid £170m for the group last week, which includes the Heart, Galaxy and LBC radio brands.
Park is also known for his role as the “head master” on BBC talent show, Fame Academy.
