Mail Online cements lead

The Mail Online has cemented its overall lead among the newspaper websites, while has come in a close second among UK unique users, according to the latest ABCe figures for July.

Associated Newspapers’ Mail Online attracted 29,872,465 during the month, enjoying a slight month-on-month rise of 1.7% and a year-on-year rise of 59.7%. It took the top spot for a second month in a row. followed with 26,990,072 unique users, falling 6.82% month-on-month. It rose 30.88% year on year and also remains the most visited newspaper website among UK users with 9,928,698.

Telegraph Media Group’s fell slightly month on month to 26,479,638, while growing 41.25% year on year.

News International, which this month announced the planned closure of its free newspaper title, thelondonpaper, saw its Times Online property fall month on month by 11.04% to 18,873,975. However year on year it rose 15.14%.

Its sister website, rose both month on month and year on year to 25,094,107. It is not far behind in UK unique users, attracting 9,050,537.

Mirror Group Digital enjoyed a 100.98% year on year growth to 10,405, 191, while also growing 10.19% month on month.

Independent News & Media’s remained in last place with a 10.31% month on month fall to 8,387,819. However, it did rise 27.3% year on year.
