Mandmdirect.com, the online clothing retailer, has appointed Neil Sansom as marketing director. Sansom joins from Otto Group, the owner of oli.co.uk, where he was business development director.
Sansom will be responsible for customer acquisition and retention, e-commerce and catalogue production for M and M Direct, which is the UK’s biggest online discount fashion sports and apparel retailers.
He joined Otto UK, whose catalogues include Grattan and Freemans, in May 2006 with a brief to create a trend-driven offering for 25-year-olds to 40-year-olds.
Previously, Sansom has worked in marketing and commercial roles for companies including Kingfisher, Freeserve, Shell and Shop Direct. He also helped to launch electrical retailer Comet’s first e-commerce site.
M and M Direct was launched in 1987 and opened its e-commerce site in 1998. In 2007, US private equity company TA Associates invested in the business and former Tesco Direct chief executive Steve Robinson was recruited to replace Mike Tomkins as chief executive.
