Manning Gottlieb OMD has won the £20m consolidated media planning business for the Home Office. The Omnicom media agency won the brief following a final shoot-out against WPP Group-owned Mediaedge:cia. Carat was knocked out of the pitch, handled by the COI, at an earlier stage.
The win comes hot on the heels of OMD’s capture of the £18m media planning and buying for Royal Mail and the £24m consolidated account for HMV and Waterstone’s.
Manning Gottlieb OMD will now handle planning for all Home Office advertising and marketing and will advise on strategy for campaigns originating from the government office.
The Home Office’s decision to consolidate its entire media planning operation into one agency (MW April 19) is expected to herald a round of similar centralisations by government departments.
