Mark Ritson and Syl Saller join The Marketing Academy’s board

Ritson and Saller join the organisation with immediate effect to support its ambitious plans for expansion and growth throughout 2020 and beyond.

The Marketing AcademyThe Marketing Academy has appointed Diageo’s global CMO Syl Saller and Marketing Week columnist Mark Ritson to its global board of directors ahead of its 10th anniversary this year.

The not-for-profit organisation, which runs free development programmes for talent within marketing, media and advertising in the UK, Australia and the US, has accrued more than 600 alumni and is sponsored by global brands such as Facebook, Salesforce, Accenture, KFC and Mars.

“2019 was a big year for the academy with the launch of the Scholarship and CMO Fellowship programmes in the US. Expanding our board is a key pillar in increasing our impact globally,” says The Marketing Academy’s globacl CMO Sherilyn Shackell.

“I’ve known Syl and Mark for many years and have immense respect for them both. I have no doubt they will add tremendous value to the academy and our community around the world”.

The Marketing Academy is chaired globally by former Cannes Lions chair Terry Savage. Saller and Ritson join a board that includes Phil Rumbol, partner at MullenLowe Group; Steve Back, group CFO at MRH; and Sally Cowdry, chief customer officer at Travelopia.

Ritson adds: “Marketers need mentorship and life-long development more than ever and I can think of no better organisation than The Marketing Academy to provide this for them.”
