Marketing Academy Scholarship programme opens for nominations

The free, nine-month programme offers future marketing leaders the chance to receive mentorship and learning from some of the biggest names in the industry.

The Marketing Academy

The Marketing Academy has opened nominations for the 10th intake of its Scholarship programme, which offers emerging leaders in marketing, media, advertising and communications a free mentoring and learning platform.

The part-time programme offers 30 future marketing leaders the opportunity to receive one-to-one mentoring from CMOs, CEOs, marketing directors, senior agency executives and entrepreneurs over nine months. Scholars also attend boot camps that offer personal and professional development, and leadership skills that aim to set them up to become the business leaders of tomorrow.

Sherilyn Shackell, the Academy’s founder, says: “I’m beyond excited to be opening nominations for the 10th time in the UK. It seems like yesterday we launched what we thought might be a one-off programme, praying we’d got it right.

“But year after year we’ve been humbled by the support we get from sponsors, mentors, coaches and speakers who all gift their time on a pro bono basis to inspire the next generation of leadership within our industry. This investment is testament to the belief that the entire industry will ultimately reap the benefits of nurturing these highly talented, committed and passionate leaders.”

The Marketing Academy, of which Marketing Week is a partner, is a not-for profit that is supported by the marketing industry. Last year, the scholarship programme was sponsored by Facebook, ITV, Virgin Atlantic, BT, Accenture and PHD. Since opening its doors in 2010, almost 400 of the industry’s emerging leaders around the world have taken part in the programme.

UK alumni, Nick Gilmer, marketing manager on BBC One and iPlayer at the BBC, says: “The Marketing Academy is the single best leadership training you can receive, highlighting the massive difference between being a great marketer and a great marketing leader. It’s also broadened my horizons enormously by linking me up with a hugely talented group of like-minded marketers.”

To be considered for this year’s programme, Scholars first need to be nominated. They then submit a three-part application, followed by a three-stage selection programme. Details on applying can be found at themarketingacademy.org.uk/scholarship-nomination. The deadline for nominations is 18 February 2019
