Marketing director in place at Chessington theme park
Merlin Entertainments has appointed Jon Fish as the new marketing director for Chessington World of Adventures.
Fish takes up the position at Chessington previously held by Carolyn London. He is a former marketer for Phones4U and Jongleurs Comedy Clubs.
Earlier this year Chessington restructured its management and appointed David Smith as divisional director. He replaced Mike Vallis, who moved to sister attraction Thorpe Park. Smith was previously finance and retail director for Alton Towers.
Chessington opened its doors for the 2009 season on March 28 and introduced fresh characters within the park and two new restaurants.
The appointment comes as Merlin Entertainments bids to take advantage of the trend for British holidaymakers to stay in the UK as their vacation budgets are hit by the economic downturn.
The Merlin group, which owns SeaLife, Legoland, The London Eye and Madame Tussauds among other visitor attractions, recently launched a Merlin Annual Pass supported by the group’s first corporate branding campaign. The campaign was created by Delany Lund Knox Warren.
The company has just topped the 2009 Sunday Times PricewaterhouseCoopers Profit Track 100 league table. The table features Britain’s 100 private companies with the fastest growing profits.
