Marketing Week Mini MBA hires first MD

Tim Plyming joins from The Open University into the newly created role to fuel growth plans.

Marketing Week Mini MBA, the series of award-winning courses produced in collaboration with Mark Ritson, has appointed its first managing director as it looks to fuel its growth plans.

Tim Plyming, will take up the newly created position in October and joins from The Open University where he was managing director for short courses and microcredentials. He has also held senior positions at BBC, Nesta and the British Museum.

The Mini MBA launched first with the Marketing course created and delivered by Marketing Week columnist Ritson. A Brand Management course was then added. To date more than 30,000 marketers have taken one or both of the courses.

Next month will see the launch of a Management course, designed to help experienced marketers move into business leadership. It’s fronted by Marketing Week columnist, academic and author Helen Edwards and features specialist contributors.

Further growth plans include a learner network and international and corporate customer acceleration.

Plyming will report to group managing director of Xeim, Steve Newbold, and will work closely with brand director Sam Halkyard, and Ritson.

Plyming says: “I have long admired the MW Mini MBA course offer, and as a proud alumnus, what Mark Ritson and the team have developed continues to be the ‘best in breed’ example of high-quality online learning. I’m incredibly excited to be working alongside Steve, Mark and the team at such an exciting time of growth and development.”
