May increase in unique browsers for onilne publishers

Last month’s election sparked a surge in the number of total monthly and average daily unique browsers for online publishers across the board, according to ABCe figures released today.

The 10% rise in Guardian.co.uk unique browsers from April to May – standing at just over 2m – was not enough to topple Mail Online from its ranking as most read paper online for a fourth month in a row.

Associated Newspapers’ Mail Online saw a 5% increase in its daily unique browsers to 2.39m, while daily unique browsers of Telegraph, which retained its ranking as third, were up 5% on April to 1.67m.

The Mirror Group – with 502,382 average daily unique users – experienced the most significant rise, an increase of almost 15% on its April figures.

Nearly all papers online reported an increase in traffic from last year.
