Mazda UK combines sales and marketing under new director

Car company Mazda has appointed its UK sales director Mark Cameron to the combined role of UK sales and marketing director, reflecting its recent move to combine its sales and marketing teams across Europe to reduce costs in the face of falling sales across the industry.

Former marketing director Cameron was named sales director in October last year following Jeremy Thompson’s promotion to managing director. He has been unofficially overseeing the two roles ever since.

Cameron is set to announce an internal candidate to a newly created position of senior marketing manager shortly, and is making “ongoing changes” to the two teams as a result of the merger of the two departments.

The changes come shortly after Mazda Motor Europe promoted its vice president of sales Phillip Waring to chief operating officer, as which he has also taken on marketing responsibilities (MW Jan 8).

Waring took on the marketing remit from Masahiro Moro, the former vice-president marketing Europe after he moved to Mazda’s head office in Japan.
