Sponsorship agencies usually spend a lot of time convincing their clients to spend money on one hair-brained scheme or another.
But for once there is an agency prepared to put its money where its mouth is. M&C Saatchi Sponsorship is sponsoring Ruaraidh Gunn, one of its summer interns, who turns out to be the current holder of the real tennis national championship league title.
M&C Saatchi Sponsorship chief executive Matthew Patten says: “During his time with us, he was kind enough to give me my first go at real tennis. I was so embarrassed by the thrashing he gave me, it seemed the least we could do.”
Reports that Mr Gunn will be required to complete every rally in under 30 seconds, so as to fit on M&C’s showreel, are hotly denied by the agency.
