McAfee appoints Oracle marketer to head EMEA marketing

McAfee has appointed Philippe Adam as its new vice president of EMEA marketing

He joins from IT rivals Oracle, where he has held the position of vice president of EMEA sales development for the last two years.  Prior to this, he spent nine years with Hyperion, in a number of key regional, pan-EMEA and global marketing roles. 

Adam, will lead all marketing activities, with particular focus on awareness and demand generation and will be based at McAfee’s office in Paris.

David Quantrell, president, EMEA of McAfee, says: “This is an exciting time for McAfee as we continue to propel our EMEA business forward.  The security landscape continues to evolve and to challenge both organisations and individuals alike.  As we move into 2010, Philippe will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our great brand and our outstanding propositions are clearly communicated to customers, prospects and partners across the region.”

Adam adds: “Having witnessed the incredible evolution of the security industry over the last few years, the importance of what McAfee has to offer is clear.  I’m thrilled to be getting behind McAfee’s no-nonsense approach to security.”

Facebook recently signed a partnership with McAfee to offer its users a complimentary six-month subscription to McAfee security software.

Its rival AVG Technologies, are boosting their marketing budget to £4m to compete more in the security market.
