McCann wins £9m Fujitsu-Siemens European communications brief

Fujitsu-Siemens Computers has appointed McCann-Erickson Worldwide as its European marketing communications agency, following a three-month pitch.

McCann beat competition from several global agencies, including J Walter Thompson. The account was previously handled by Serviceplan in Germany and adapted to local markets.

The account, estimated to be worth between £6.9m and £8.9m, is the second to be reviewed by Fujitsu-Siemens in as many months. The company reviewed its UK planning and buying account in March, re-appointing BJK&E.

According to McCann Business Communications managing director in London Jaakoo Alanko, McCann’s first project for Fujitsu-Siemens will be a product launch. He says: “Work on the account will begin immediately. The first campaign is imminent and will be worth a substantial amount of money.”

McCann will split the business between McCann Business Communications in London and its integrated agency, Berlin-based MECH The Communications House. The London office will handle the enterprise computing business and MECH will take charge of the small-to-medium enterprise work and local adaptation.

McCann Business Communications was established early last year to handle McCann’s business-to-business clients, including Sharp, Logica and Hewlett Packard. The MECH division was set-up in 2000. Its clients include CDU, Jobpilot and Luftrhansa.

McCann’s win follows its recent appointment to the global communications account for Siemens Mobile.
