Sophie Wheater is Chief Marketing Officer at giffgaff. With a background in brand creation, growth and development and advertising across multiple channels, Sophie is a champion of insight-led marketing and loves to build happy, high-performing teams. Sophie has been part of the giffgaff family for nearly 4 years and since joining, has helped giffgaff win Uswitch Network of the Year three times, clinch Which? Recommended Provider and has grown the member base exponentially.

What gets her out of bed in the morning is knowing that she is working for a business that is taking responsibility for its impact on both the planet and the people on it whilst growing profits. She is passionate in pursuing this agenda with giffgaff. With a knack for putting the “creative into data”, Sophie has worked across a range of campaigns in the Telco industry, with one of her largest achievements being to triple Tesco Mobile’s customer base when working as Head of Brand and Communications.

Sophie is a rarity in that not only does she bring the smarts to marketing with her commerce hat on – but she brings that passion and energy required to always ensure giffgaff is innovating with its members and that the team is having fun along the way.

If Sophie wasn’t a CMO, her next best dream job would be an actress. She trained in acting and is rarely shy of a microphone!
