Microsoft launches Iconic Britain site

Microsoft’s efforts to drive traffic to Live Search have gathered pace with the launch of the “Iconic Britain” initiative. The project asks consumers to help create a “visual snapshot” of the UK.

The site, which was launched today and will run for eight weeks, aims to encourage consumers to use Live Search to find images of great British sights, institutions and people. People can vote for their favourites.

Users can win one of over 300 cameras if they submit images and vote on their favourites.

Expert judges will be brought in for final stages of the campaign to vote on the top images submitted by the public in each of the ten categories, and to decide the winner. The campaign will be fully integrated across the MSN network.
