Microsoft partners with Tesco for IE8
Microsoft has agreed partnerships with a number of major brands, including Tesco, eBay and ASOS.com, to launch an application providing customers with product updates.
The “web-slicing” application went live yesterday (March 19) with the launch of Internet Explorer 8.
Consumers can use the application to track a product or receive regular updates on stock, availability and price.
Other brands involved include Digg, Yahoo! Mail and OneRiot.
Matt Ackley, vice president of internet marketing and advertising at eBay, says: “We are excited about Internet Explorer 8 for several reasons, including its ability to provide our customers with updates to eBay products using Web Slices so they can keep track of their buying activity while surfing the web.”
In January, Microsoft Advertising launched the Microsoft Media Network in the UK with the aim of helping advertisers to create targeted campaigns across MSN.
The network combined existing ad networks DRIVEpm and Microsoft Direct Response and competes with AOL’s Platform-A and the Yahoo! Network
