Microsoft to amplify its partnership with Global

Microsoft has stepped up it partnership with Global Radio and will promote its portfolio of products across all the radio group’s stations.

The deal see Microsoft products including Windows 7, Hotmail, search engine Bing, music platform Zune and promoted across Global stations such as 95.8 Capital FM, Classic FM and the Heart Network and their online platforms.

Building on previous arrangements,

Mike Gordon, Global Radio’s commercial director says the “”strategic” partnership develops the existing relationship with Microsoft, which saw Windows 7 sponsor Capital’s Jingle Bell Ball last year.

He claims that Global’s 60% share of the commercial radio market would help Microsoft increase user engagement and activation.

The campaign sees Microsoft’s browser Internet Explorer 9 promoted across Global websites, with all online search functionality powered by Bing. All Global’s emails communications will promote Hotmail.

Windows 7 products will be promoted on air with a Be A Star competition, with listeners creating online videos to compete for a spot at Capital FM’s Jingle Bell Ball with Windows 7, which Microsoft will sponsor again this year.

Paul Davies, Microsoft’s director of marketing communications, adds: “Microsoft is uniquely equipped to take how Global engages with its audiences across multiple platforms to a new level.”

“The scale of Global’s combined UK audience and reach is very exciting for us and we look forward to the creative opportunities this collaboration will provide,” he adds.
