Microsoft UK CMO promoted to EMEA marketing boss
Pelosi joined the tech giant in 2022 after stints at EY and Wirpo.
Microsoft’s UK CMO Bonnie Pelosi has been promoted to CMO of the EMEA region.
Pelosi joined Microsoft in September 2022 from IT services firm Wipro where she was Europe CMO. Between 2014 and 2021, she was CMO for UK and Ireland at EY.
As UK CMO, Pelosi has led on all marketing and brand strategy to deliver growth for the tech giant, which is investing heavily in artificial intelligence – the business spent a reported £13bn on its partnership with ChatGPT owner OpenAI.
She was named as one of Marketing Week’s Top 100 most effective marketers in 2023.
Microsoft CMO: Marketers need to ‘get over their imposter syndrome’
Microsoft’s marketing leadership has been changing of late. In October, Microsoft veteran Chris Capossela stepped down as global CMO and left the business after 32 years.
In a note to staff, CEO Satya Nadella wrote: “Chris and I have been working on his succession plan for some time, and as this new era of AI is upon us, we’ve decided this is the right time to put that plan into action.”
It is not known when Pelosi will officially step into her new role, or what the next move is for current EMEA CMO Fiona Carney, who has been with the business for 17 years.
Microsoft is currently on the hunt for a marketer to replace Pelosi as UK marketing lead.
