Mike not over the Moon at detour

The Diary was choked to learn that one of marketing’s leading lights could quite easily have become a household name as a rock star.

Mike Brown, Toshiba marketing director for consumer products, played the drums alongside a certain John Entwistle and Pete Townshend, classmates at Acton County school. The band was called the Detours and was a forerunner to what became The Who when Roger Daltry, who was in a different class at Acton County, joined later.

“I didn’t think there was any future in a band so I opted for a career in marketing,” says Brown. What’s his favourite song – Won’t Get Fooled Again perhaps?
