Mining the business talent

Helo, sut mae? Fancy starting a business? Well you’re not the only one. A billboard campaign in Wales, created by FBA for the Welsh Development Agency has been encouraging Pobol y Tywysogaeth to set up on their own.

According to the agency, the people on the posters are “1940s Welsh characters”, and are part of a scheme that has seen 4,000-plus businesses start up in the past year.

Sadly, it appears from the poster that Dafydd’s dreams of launching Wales’ first volume airliner manufacturer are about to be shattered by an incoming cricket bat. Nerys, however, is set for a successful career as a self-employed ventriloquist’s dummy, and Gwyneth is going into business as a medium (“I’m getting… I’m getting a small business loan… do ’14-hour days and a crippling overdraft’ mean anything to anyone?”).

The Diary wishes the campaign every success in bringing the VATman back to the valleys. Hwyl!
