Mirror Group suffers drop in online users

Mirror Group Digital was the only publisher to post a fall in unique users during the month of September, according to the latest ABCe figures. In contrast, Guardian.co.uk strengthened its lead with a 4.65% month on month increase.

In year-on-year terms, Telegraph Media Group’s Telegraph.co.uk continued to surge ahead, recording the biggest growth. It was up by 115.55% to 22.9 million. However, it remained behind Guardian News & Media’s Guardian.co.uk, which rose 44.78% year on year to 24.2 million.

Mirror Group Digital recorded a disappointing 5.65% fall month on month to 5.26 million.

While the rest of the publishers recorded growth month on month, there was no change on the leader board.

Behind Guardian.co.uk and Telegraph.co.uk, was News International’s Times Online, which rose 3.21% month on month and 62% year on year to 20.3 million.

Associated Newspapers’ Mail Online was fourth with a 2.55% month on month rise and a 53% increase year on year to 17.9 million.

Further behind was The Independent which saw a 20.6% month on month increase to almost 8 million, followed by Mirror Group Digital.

Among unique users in the UK, Guardian.co.uk remained ahead with 9.8 million.
