Mirror’s digital marketing boss exits in restructure

Trinity Mirror has undergone its third round of major restructuring within a year, resulting in the departure of its long-standing digital marketing director Paul Hood.

Hood, who has been with Trinity Mirror for four years – holding roles including head of digital for the nationals unit, and digital marketing director – has been made redundant as a result of restructuring and is in consultation.

Changes introduced by MD digital of the Nationals Division, Chris Ellis, who was appointed in May, will see all digital heads of department report directly to Ellis.

Trinity Mirror’s group head of interactive and mobile Rick Gleave have also left the company to move to Australia. James Kaye, who was previously at Mobizest, takes on the role of interim mobile director.

Shana Hills will lead the digital product team as head of product development, while Kristiaan Kroon has been promoted to sales director, digital, focusing on growing the digital display ad business.

Among the changes, is the appointment of Steve Anglesey to deputy publisher, who will oversee sports content, as well as continuing to assist publisher Matt Kelly in developing the longer-term web-publishing strategy.

Ben Rankin has been confirmed as editor of Mirror.co.uk, while 3am.co.uk editor Isabel Mohan will take a broader celebrity remit as associate editor, celebrity. Rachel Wheeler has been promoted to deputy editor of 3am.co.uk.

Ellis said in a statement: “These changes will allow us to focus more closely on our digital ambitions of accelerating our digital growth across our portfolio of sites.”
