Moneyextra raids rival for director of advertising

Alan%20CroftsMoneyextra.com, the UK comparison and advice website, has appointed Alan Crofts as advertising director. He joins from rival moneysupermarket.com.

Crofts, who has already taken over the role, will lead the company’s media team and has been made responsible for its advertising and sales revenue. He will have a seat on the board and will report to managing director John Elder.

The website handles its marketing in house and works with agencies, including DDB London and digital agency Profero, on an ad-hoc basis. Crofts will work closely with the agencies on new ad campaigns for the site and will also be responsible for the sales team across the two websites.

Moneyextra.com was recently sold by wealth management business AWD Chase de Vere to a group of independent investors. It is building a new board of directors to lead the company.

Crofts says: “This role represents a great opportunity for me to work alongside a highly motivated team to make moneyextra.com the next number one comparison site.”

Moneyextra aims to help consumers save money by searching and comparing over 90% of the finance market for UK financial products online to find the best personal fit for users.

The website was established 12 years ago and has a user base of over 1.25 million monthly users.
