Morgan Stanley appoints Martin as its lead global agency

Morgan Stanley has handed its £26.5m global advertising account to Interpublic Group’s The Martin Agency, following a competitive pitch against undisclosed agencies.

The financial services giant will handle the account with immediate effect and takes over from incumbent agency Ogilvy & Mather. The agency will work on the account from its offices in Richmond, Virginia, with its first work due out later this year. Work will include strategic planning and brand creative development.

“We selected The Martin Agency based on three factors: first, their experience and track record in financial services; second, their understanding of our strategy; and third, their ability to execute highly creative advertising that will help define and differentiate our brand,” says Ramona Boston, Morgan Stanley’s managing director and chief marketing officer.

Publicis Groupe’s Spark Communications, part of Starcom, handles media planning and buying for Morgan Stanley and has been unaffected by the agency review.

Morgan Stanley has around 1200 offices in 38 countries worldwide. It will be celebrating its 75th birthday this year.
